What keeping accounts in Spain involves
Spanish commercial law requires every business to keep orderly accounts suited to its activity, with a chronological record of all transactions and periodic balance sheets and inventories. The books include an inventory and annual accounts book and a journal (Commercial Code, article 25). Books, correspondence and supporting documents must be kept in order for six years from the last entry (article 30).
Limited companies also follow a fixed annual cycle under the Spanish Companies Act:

It depends on the job. Keeping the books and preparing the annual accounts is accounting work, tax returns and tax planning are tax work, and business plans or investment evaluations need financial analysis. When does a Spanish limited company have to file its annual accounts?
The directors prepare the annual accounts within three months of the financial year end, the general meeting approves them within the first six months of the year, and the accounts are filed with the Commercial Registry within one month of approval (Spanish Companies Act, articles 253, 164 and 279). For a company whose year ends on 31 December, that usually means approval by the end of June and filing in July.
